Key Responsibilities

Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of Atlassian cloud services Operate and maintain high-availability distributed systems in production Build monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks for operational excellence Advocate and implement reliability best practices across engineering teams Collaborate with product, platform, and SRE teams to improve system resilience Optimize cloud infrastructure cost and performance efficiency Participate in incident management and post-incident reviews Mentor and coach engineers on SRE methodologies Drive improvements in automation, observability, and service health

Requirements

10+ years of experience in software engineering Expert proficiency in Java, Go, or Python 7+ years of experience in public cloud platforms (2+ years on GCP preferred) Experience operating fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems Strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability tools Experience in high-availability production environments Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience mentoring engineers and leading reliability initiatives Preferred Qualifications Experience with RDBMS, NoSQL, search, analytics, or time-series databases Experience in microservices architecture Experience building REST or GraphQL web services Expertise in JVM internals, garbage collection, and performance tuning
